Mother’s Day is this Sunday. All of the stores are filled with an overwhelming array of gift ideas so you may be having a hard time trying to decide what thingamabobber she needs most or which whatchamajigger she doesn’t already have. Mothers are really not that complicated. Most mothers I know that have young children only have one thing in mind for the perfect gift… a pampering trip to the bathroom ALONE to sit in the bath in peace and quiet. Today, I am going to supply you with the information you need to make that happen without buying the most expensive bath set you can find in a scent that she hopefully likes.
For me, a pampering bath requires a shut door, peace and quiet, a soak of some sort, an exfoliant, and a moisturizer. The first two things I can’t help you with but the others I can handle. So today I’m showing you how I make a gift set that includes bath salts, sugar scrub, and body butter.
2.5 Cups Epsom Salt
1.5 teaspoon Coconut Oil
1/8 Cup Body Wash (Any kind she likes is fine)
5 Drops Essential Oil (Optional)
For this recipe, I used lavender essential oil and lavender body wash that I had made. You can use any body wash that she likes. If the body wash you choose has plenty of scent, the essential oils aren’t necessary. I also used soap colorants because that is what I had available. You can also use food coloring or none at all.
In a mixing bowl, combine all of your ingredients. Once mixed well, you can put the mixture in a jar. I used 8 ounce mason jars for my packaging. This recipe filled three jars so you could have one for your mother, one for your mother in law, and one for yourself.
1 Cup Sugar
4 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
10 Drops Essential Oil
In a mixing bowl, combine your ingredients. If using a room temperature solid coconut oil, I “fold in” my coconut oil and try to break it up as I work it in. If you want to color the sugar scrub, I recommend adding the color to the coconut oil before adding the sugar so as to achieve a more blended color. I have never used food coloring in sugar scrub so I am not going to guarantee that it wouldn’t have a staining effect on the skin. This recipe made a little more than one jar so if you want to fill three jars double the recipe.
5 Tablespoons Shea Butter
5 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
10 Drops Essential Oil
In a mixing bowl, combine your ingredients and whip with an electric mixer. The mixture will be a thin consistency once it has been whipped. Place your bowl in the freezer for only a couple of minutes to cool so it will thicken back up. Take the bowl back out and put the mixture in the mason jar. This recipe only filled one 8 ounce jar so if you want more you will need to multiply the recipe accordingly. For three jars, use about one cup of each. I do not recommend food coloring in the body butter. If you do not have soap colorant you do not need to add coloring.
I have gone a step further in helping make this gift set easy for you. I also have a free printable for the labels. Sweet, right? You’re welcome 🙂
So whip up these recipes, print your labels, put the jars in a cute basket and wrap with cellophane and a ribbon. Done!
Note: My basket was found at the Dollar General two for $1 and the roll of cellophane was $1 as well.
